Lash Pre & Post Care

Lash extensions are the best thing to ever be invented. They are a time saver and accentuate your beauty and for some, adds a bit of drama (the good kind of drama) to everyday life.

Below are my policies, care instructions and helpful tips to help you get the most out of your extensions.

  • Firstly, I guarantee my work for 48 hours. If, for some reason, you experience *significant lash fall out within 48 hours of your service, I will touch them up for free. After the 48 hour mark, lash fall out is out of my hands.

  • *Please note, that the guarantee only pertains to lash loss due to something going wrong on my end, for example, glue failure.

  • When coming in for your services please come in with clean, makeup free eyes/lashes. If you do come in with makeup, etc on your lashes, I will clean your lashes off but there will almost always be mascara/eye shadow/ eye liner residue left over, which will make your extensions fall out faster than normal.

Post Care:

We lose 4-5 lashes a day. Don't be surprised if you lose a few lashes after your lash service. This is totally normal and there is no need for panic.

Please keep your lashes/eyes dry for 48 hours; this also means staying away from steam rooms, saunas and hot steamy showers. Introducing water and steam right after you get your lashes done will result in lash fall out. I also highly recommend not wearing eye makeup for the first 48 hours after your lash service.

Keep your lashes clean! Clean those babies daily. Not doing so will result in lash loss and in some cases infection (though that is rare).

*Infection happens when there is a buildup of oil, makeup, debris, etc. This usually happens when you haven't cleaned your lashes in a long while...it's gross.

Do not pick at your lashes, this too will result in lash loss and lash breakage.

Be sure to pre-book your lash appointment.

Things to consider:

Holy Crap!! My eyes itch and my eyes are swelling!!  If you experience these hellish sensations, 9 times out of 10 this means you've developed an allergic reaction to the lash glue. If this happens, take some Benadryl and apply a cold compress to your lashes and contact me ASAP to schedule a lash removal. If, for some reason I am unavailable, please find someone who can, I am more than happy to refer you to someone... if you can't find anybody and you're desperate, here is how you remove them at home (I do not recommend doing this unless this is your last resort):

Apply baby oil, jojoba oil or coconut oil onto your lashes and apply a warm coompress over your eyes for about 10 minutes. Afterwards take a hot steamy shower and they will start to come off. This process may take a few times until they are completely off. Pleaes take care when doing this, you run the risk of damaging your lashes.

Our lashes are like fingerprints, one persons lashes are not like the next person's. If you have a reference picture from instagram or Pinterest, just know that we have to consider eye shape, the amount of lashes you have versus the person in the picture has and lash health and viability.

Our eyes are sisters, not twins. Getting lash extensions may or may not exaggerate small natural flaws, like for example, one eye may naturally droop slightly than the other, etc.  For those who crave lash perfection, keep this tid-bit in mind when inspecting your lashes.

Did you know we go through a major shedding cycle twice a year? Typically during the spring and fall time. Our bodies prepare for the cold and hot season by shedding our body hair, including our lashes. We also produce more oil than normal causing our extension to fall out at a faster rate.

Allergy season is just like shedding season except we aren't shedding because our bodies are preparing us for warmer or colder weather, it's due to our watery and itchy eyes. Be sure to  take your allergy meds daily to help combat the dreaded allergy lash loss. You can also book mini fills to help stay ahead of the shed.

Having retention issues and it's not shedding or allergy season?

Sometimes people produce more oil than the average person.

Oil + Lash Extension Glue = Lash Loss

This means you may have to come in once a week or once every 1.5 weeks to stay ahead of the shed.

Another factor is medication or health issues. Some medications and health issues may make your lashes brittle, grow slower than usual or even thinner than usual. That will cause your lash life shorten.

Did you know traveling causes lash loss? Yup. the stress of travel, going from one environment to another and swimming will cause fall out. Does this mean you shouldn't get your lashes done before your vacation? No! Usually I recommend going extra fluffy so when you possibly start to shed, it'll be more camouflage.
